Cultural Ministry seeks addl Tk 284m from non-dev budget of RADP

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs (MoCA) has sought an additional allocation of about Tk 284 million from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) from the non-development budget of the Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) of the current fiscal year (FY).
Minister for MoCA Asaduzzaman Noor recently sent a letter to Finance Minister AMA Muhith seeking the fund.
The MoF has allocated Tk 2.57 billion for the FY 2014-15. Of the amount, Tk 1.60 billion and Tk 979.3 million has been allocated for the development and non-development sectors respectively, the letter said.
On other hand, Tk 1.0 billion has been kept for the FY 2014-15 as block allocation for completion of development, reservation and expansion of the country's overall cultural activities successfully.
But Tk 283.8 million is needed urgently for the ongoing FY in favour of different departments and agencies of MoCA, according to the letter.
Different current non-development projects of the ministry have been facing financial deficit of Tk 280 million, the letter mentioned.
A source concerned said a MoCA letter was received by the MoF recently which has been forwarded to the official concerned of the MOF for taking necessary steps to allocate the fund sought.
