Culture: A subjective view

Thursday, 4 June 2015

This writer was involved in maintenance engineering for over twenty years in many large manufacturing plants till early 1980s. From close observations over the years, he feels that the sad and repulsive culture of 'bribery and corruption' has taken roots in this country and no decision or opinion can be obtained from our government officials without under-the-table lubrication. That seems to be the fact of life. The 'bokshish' culture has taken firm roots and the plant is thriving and growing healthy day by day, and from top to bottom of every hierarchy anywhere and everywhere, that one can think of. On the political front, it appears that violence and corruption have become a sort of political culture for all political parties. How to get back to a normal and sensible political environment is today's million dollar question.
