Cumilla city AL pays homage to Bangabandhu in Tungipara

TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, June 09 (BSS): Leaders of Cumilla City Awami League (AL) yesterday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
Leaders of Cumilla City AL led by its president A.K.M. Bahauddin Bahar, MP, and General Secretary and City Corporation Mayor Arfanul Haque Rifat placed a floral wreaths at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in the afternoon.
Central committee president of Bangladesh Krishak League and Cumilla City AL member Agriculturist Samir Chanda, 2000 leaders and activists of Cumilla City Awami League and affiliated bodies, among others, were present.
After laying the wreath, the AL leaders stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of Bangladesh's independence.
A special doa, seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation, was also offered.
