Cumilla, Gopalganj, Magura road accidents kill seven

A total of seven persons were killed in separate road accidents in Cumilla, Gopalganj and Magura districts on Sunday and Saturday night, report agencies.
In Cumilla, five people were killed and two were injured in a head-on collision between a covered van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Pijush Mandal, 28, son of late Chittaranjan Mandal, Md Ruhul Amin, 24, son of Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Monir Hossain, 35, son of Mohammad Ohid, Jahanara Begum, 55, and her son Mohammad Shafiullah, 24, hailing from different areas of the upazila. All the victims were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Daudkandi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque said that the accident happened around 10 am when the speeding covered van crashed into the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on Daudkandi-Chandpur regional road in Mahananda area under Mohammadpur union.
The impact of the accident left four people dead on the spot and three others critically injured, he said.
One of the injured died on the way to Gouripur health complex, he said, adding that bodies were taken to the hospital.
In Gopalganj, a motorcyclist was killed and 17 others were injured in a road accident on Muksudpur-Baroitola road in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rajib Sheikh, 35, hailed from Kanudia village in the upazila.
In Magura, a college student was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a truck and a motorbike in Sadar upazila of Magura district on Saturday night.
The deceased was Abir Hasan Arko, 18, an HSC second year student of a local college and son of Lemon Sheikh of Parnanduali village under the Sadar upazila while his injured friends are Mobin, 22, and Jubayer, 19.
