Custodial death: SI Zahid on fresh 3-day remand

A Dhaka court on Monday placed Sub-Inspector of Mirpur Police Station Zahidur Rahman Zahid and police source Nasim Sheikh on a three-day fresh remand for quizzing on the custodial death of Mahabubur Rahman Sujon, a garment-waste trader. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashok Kumar Dutta passed the order when DB Inspector Nibaron Chandra Barmon, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court at noon seeking a six-day remand. The IO told the court that they need more information from the detainees. The court, however, granted three-day remand for the third time. Earlier, they were remanded for another 10 days in two separate terms – six and four – in this connection, according to BSS.
