Customs houses to remain open Friday

Customs houses across the country and branches of banks, related to customs house, will remain open on Friday, the first day of the three-day Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken the decision aiming to continue the export and import activities of garment industries without interruption. An official order, signed by NBR’s second secretary Mohammad Roiych Uddin Khan, has said that all customs houses and banks related to them will remain open on July 17. According to the order, Dhaka Customs House, Benapole Customs House, Commissioner of Kamalapur ICD (Inland Container Depot) were asked to take necessary measures to keep open the export-import duty stations. NBR has taken the decision in response to an appeal filed by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), according to a news agency.
