CUTA Election on Dec 31

CHITTAGONG, Dec 26 (UNB): The elections to the Chittagong University Teachers' Association (CUTA) will be held on December 31.
Pro-BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami teachers under 'White panel' and ruling party backed teachers under 'Yellow panel' are contesting the election.
Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury of Sociology Department from the 'Yellow Panel' will vie for the post of president against Dr Abul Kashem Chowdhury of the same department from 'White Panel'.
On the other hand, Dr Ahmad Salauddin and Md Helal Uddin Nizami from 'Yellow Panel' will contest for the posts of general secretary and vice-president respectively.
Meanwhile, 'White Panel' selected SM Nasrul Kadir and Dr Md Al-Amin for general secretary and vice-president posts respectively.
The other nominated candidates from the 'Yellow Panel' are Kazi SM Khairul Alam for joint secretary and Md Rezaul Karim for treasurer posts.
The 'White Panel's candidates for joint secretary post is Dr Md Atiar Rahman and for treasurer post is Dr Md Saleh Zahur.
A total of 647 faculty members of the university will cast their votes, said chief election commissioner Dr Azizur Rahman, a teacher of the Botany Department.
