Cutting dependence on foreign countries emphasised

Speakers at a workshop in Gaibandha stressed the need for reducing the dependence on other countries and financial institutions like World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
They called for increasing the internal income by exploring resources to develop the country and make it debt-free.
They were addressing a workshop on foreign debt organised by the district committee of Campaign for Good Governance in the public library auditorium in the town Thursday.
Presided over by M Zillur Rahman Khan, executive director of Udyog, the workshop was also addressed, among others, by Ballamghar UP Chairman Mozammel Haque Mondal, freedom fighter Enamul Haque Tuku, executive director of Palli Bandhu Kalyan Sangstha Monowara Talukder, journalist Sircar M Shahiduzzaman, Mukta Rani Sarker, monitoring officer of Udyog, Iqbal Uddin, programme officer of Campaign for Good Governance, and M Ataur Rahman Sahanor.
