Cycling eyes two golds, Boxing hopeful in SA Games

Bangladesh Cycling Federation was looking forward to winning at least two Gold medals and Bangladesh Boxing Federation (BBF) expressed optimism of winning at least two Gold medals against four targeted in the 11th South Asian Games to be held from January 29 to February 9, reports BSS.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Cycling Federation (BCF) Parvez Hasan said this while announcing the cycling squad for the SA Games.
Cycling is a game, which is yet to reach its popularity among the local fans.
The BCF General Secretary Parvez surprised everyone when they spelled out the prospect. "We also took part in the 10th South Asian Games in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2006, but that was a token participation. This time we are well prepared for the SAG and will fight for two Gold medals taking the full advantage of home ground," he said.
On the preparations, the General Secretary said they started their training in the last week of May last under the supervision of coach Shahidur Rahman.
The other two events are: Men's 170-kilometre Mass Start and women's 50-kilometre Mass Start.
The route of 170-kilometre Team Time Trial will include parts of Khulna, Bagerhat and Gopalganj districts.
Players: Chingby Marma, Farhana Sultana, Sathi Biswas, Monoara Khanom Sathi, Akashi Sultana (Women), Ripon Kumar Biswas, Muslimuddin Mujibur, Shamsul Huda, Anwar Hossain and Mohammad Ektieruddin (Men).
Officials: Hyungil Kim (Coach), Shahidur Rahman (Assistant Coach) and Jobera Rahman Linu (Manager).
BBF announced the names of the probable boxers who will represent Bangladesh boxing team at the 11th South Asian Games.
SM Alam the vice president of the Bangladesh Boxing Federation expressed optimism of winning at least two Gold medals as four targeted.
Bangladesh will participate in the seven weight categories but till date five has been confirmed. The 48 Kg, 51 Kg, 60 Kg and 64 Kg category are the targeted one where Bangladesh Boxing Federation are hopeful of bagging gold.
Moshiur Rahman Kajal of 48 Kg category and Nadim Hossain of 54 kg category were seen as the Gold medal prospect by the federation officials. Jahiruddin Rubel and Suruj Bangali the boxers of 69 Kg and 81 kg category respectively were also described as the potential Gold winners but participation in these two events will be confirmed later. .
Boxing Team: Moshiur Rahman Kajal (48 kg), Mohammad Wahiduzzaman (51 kg), Nadim Hossain (54 kg), Faisal Mollah or Mohammad Al Amin (57 kg), Jewel Ahmed Johny or Mohammad Rokonuddin (60 kg), Abdur Rahim (64 kg), Suruj Bangali (69 kg), Nabab Ali or Sumon Sarker (75 kg) and Jahiruddin Rubel (81 kg).
