Czech consulate opens in city

The honorary consulate of the Czech Republic in Bangladesh was inaugurated at Monem Business District in the city recently. ASM Mohiuddin Monem, Honorary Consul inaugurated the consulate, said a press release.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, MP was the chief guest at the event. It was also attended by Russian Ambassador Alexander Nikolaev, Korean Ambassador Lee Yun-Young,  consuls, high officials and other dignitaries.
In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, ASM Mohiuddin Monem said, "The Consulate will provide all support services for Czech citizens residing in or visiting Bangladesh as well as answer to the range of queries placed by Bangladeshis through the provision of consular assistance".
He also stated that the Consulate and he personally in the role of the Honorary Consul will not limit the possibilities of bilateral cooperation to economy, trade & commerce but look beyond the horizon to improve the ties with technical collaboration in engineering and scientific advancement, knowledge sharing and education, cultural exchanges, and other areas of significance.
The Honorary Consul also mentioned, "We are now entering the decade of strategic architecture, competencies and capacities as Bangladesh opens up to the world and this is when we need friends like the Czech Republic'. It is expected that the Honorary Consulate will pave the way for improved Bangladesh - Czech relations to flourish and take constructive shape in the near future with foreign direct investments in Bangladesh in power, energy, infrastructure as well as trade, taking benefit of existing GSP facility.
