CZM launches scholarship from Zakat fund

Centre for Zakat Management (CZM) has launched its Zaket-based scholarship for meritorious undergraduate students under the title `Genious' programme.
This year 61 students have been selected form Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College, Sohrawardy Medical College, BUET and Jagannath University.
CZM, a pro-poor social enterprise supported by Rahimafrooz Bangladesh Ltd, has been working in the field of livelihood development, education support, children and women development and humanitarian assistance since its inception.
Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, former advisor of caretaker government, launched the programme and distributed scholarship money to the selected students at a city hotel Saturday.
CZM Chairman and Rahimafrooz Group Director Niaz Rahim presided over the function.
Islami Bank Vice-chairman Engineer Mustafa Anawer, founder chairman of Eastern University Abul Kashem Haider, renowned businessman Ayaz Bahadur Khan and social worker Zeenat Islam spoke on the occasion as special guests.
Rahimafrooz Group Chairman Afroz Rahim, Managing Director Firoz Rahim and CEO of CZM Miah Muhammad Ayub also were present on the occasion.
