Dacoits snatch arms stabbing constable in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Jul 29 (UNB): Dacoits snatched away a shotgun from a police constable after stabbing him on the Gafargaon-Hossainpur Road in Gafargaon Upazila Monday night.
The police said the dacoits shone torchlight on a team of four policemen while patrolling Hossainpur bridge area at about 10:00 pm.
As the constable, Niranjan Mondol (25), went to see the matter, the robbers attacked him.
"They stabbed him mercilessly and snatched away his shotgun with nine bullets", a spot account of the gang attack said.
After the incident, the other members of the patrol team rushed to the scene, rescued Niranjan and sent him to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rafiqul Islam visited the spot.
The police in a hunt picked up six people for interrogation immediately after the incident while five others were held later in Kishoreganj in a combing operation.
