Dada, Zee Bangla's trump card

Sunday, 26 July 2009

KOLKATA, 25 July: Zee Bangla is all set to unveil its trump card in a bid to tackle the growing onslaught of Star Jalsha. The channel has erected giant hoardings around the city featuring Sourav Ganguly, who is hosting Dadagiri Unlimited, a quiz-based reality game show that starts from 27 July. On Friday, they unveiled details of the upcoming show and presented the celebrity host before journalists and other media representatives.
To be broadcast from Monday to Wednesday at 9.30 p.m., Dadagiri Unlimited has participants from all 19 districts of Bengal jostling to score maximum runs for their district. The runs come with every correct answer - and these aren't just cricketing questions. The show is being highlighted as a "battle of wit, intellect and common sense", with questions ranging from easy and funny to tricky googlies on a variety of subjects. But the cricket factor shows up in the names of the seven rounds: Selection, Toss, Power play, Cover drive, Googlies, Slog Over, and the final, Baapi bari ja.
A Rs. 2.0 million (20 lakh) prize awaits the district scoring the maximum runs, and a portion of the prize money will be donated to charity. Apart from the live participants, TV viewers will also have the chance to answer Dada's questions. Correct answers will translate into runs for the respective districts and the chance to win a range of gift hampers.
