Daily Star emerges champions

The Daily Star emerged champions in the DRU-Pepsi Media Cricket beating Destiny by 45 runs in the final at the Maulana Bhasanai National Hockey Stadium in the city Friday, reports UNB.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury distributed the prizes as chief guest.
DRU President Shamim Ahmed, General Secretary Pathik Saha, Transcom Beverage Limited Executive Director Khurshid Irfan Chowdhury and Rapid Securities Limited Managing Director Hanif Bhuiyan were present as special guests.
Put to bat first, Daily Star posted 95 runs for one wicket.
AK Azad, who was later adjudged man of the match for his all round performance, contributed unbeaten 33 runs while Nazmul Alam made not out 32.
In reply, Destiny scored 50 runs for all with Asif Iqbal making 14 runs.
Nazmul Alam of Daily Star was named the player of the tournament.
