Daily Star launches Brand Chittagong campaign

Our CorrespondentCHITTAGONG, Nov 01: Speakers at a view exchange meeting today said political leaders have failed to achieve expected national growth due to lack of acumen and wrong policy of centralization. They said the leaders have also failed to exploit potentials of Chittagong as a premier port and put it up to the external world as the country's prime investment destination even when it shares 70 per cent of the national revenue earnings. The Daily Star today launched a Brand Chittagong campaign as part of its initiative to expose and promote development of Chittagong nationally and internationally through month-long programmes. The programme was organized at Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI). Editor of the national daily Mahfuz Anam presented launching of a series of exchanges with the traders, businesses, entrepreneurs, industrialists, exporters and importers of the port city while acting president of the CMCCI AM Mahabub Chowdhury chaired. MD of Bengal Shipping MA Awal, CMCCI director MA Malek, renowned physician and BNP leader Dr Mohsin Zillur Karim, professionals' leader Professor Md Jahangir, head of marketing and product development of the BSRM group of companies M Firoze spoke on the occasion moderated by secretary of the CMCCI. Mr Anam said Chittagong having an edge over other regions enriched with historic sights and culture and with the premier port and largest custom house remains to be exposed to the investors around the world.
