Dairy farming creates job opportunity for hundreds of marginal farmers in Bogura

BOGURA, July 09: Commercial dairy farming has created job opportunity for hundreds of marginal farmers this season across Bogura district.
Due to more lucrative the profession, some new families of the area are leaning every year in Sherpur, Kahaloo, Adamdighi, Shibganj, Gabtoly, Dhunot, Nandigram, Shajanpur, Dupchanchia, Shonatola, Sariakandi and sadar upazilas of the district.
The farmers are starting the business in their home based tin shed or concrete room after attaining a short term training session, said farmer Toffazal Hossain, 32, under Sherpur upazila of the district.
He also said, before rearing the cows in their shed, they are seen to grow the Napier and jumbo grass variety to mitigate the fodder crises with assistance of the authority concern.
To expand the enterprise some non-government organisations (NGOs) along with government own banks are providing easy term loan facilities among the eager farmers, said managers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB).
Farmers Alomgir Hossain, 40, under Dupchanchia upazila said, he started raring some five cows to produce milk last year investing Tk 0.3 million. Every day he gets 20 to 25 KGs of fresh milk and sell them at Tk 1000 to 1200 in the local markets, he added.
Juba Unnayan district office is keeping a vital role to create the job opportunity to make the unemployment hundreds of youth self-reliant arraigning six month long training.
Meanwhile, the youth are getting both logistic and financial support from the office. They have already drive frustration from their life.
Assistance director of Bogura livestock office said we provide all sort of necessary aid to rear cows in our district. The farmers of the region are being highly benefited from the profession, he added.
