DAM, First Security Islami Bank sign agri-loan distribution deal

Commercial banks across the country are being encouraged to distribute agricultural loan through non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for accelerating the pace of activities of agricultural extension programme of the government, said a press release.
As part of this programme, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has undertaken an initiative in cooperation with First Security Islami Bank Ltd. to distribute agricultural loan among 8 thousand farmers of Ashulia, Tongi and Moksudpur of Dhaka as well as Sreepur and Shafipur areas of Gazipur districts.
The agri-loan will be distributed for the purpose of cultivation of various crops, purchasing agricultural and irrigation machineries, fish culture, rearing domestic animals, livestock, milk production, grain warehouses and other construction work.
Initially, the period of this programme will be five years. Ultimately, the programme will be extended to other parts of the country.
DAM and First Security Islami Bank Ltd. formally signed an agreement for extension of the agri-loan programme at a ceremony held at the Dilkusha Head Office of the bank recently.
DAM Executive Director M Ehsanur Rahman and First Security Islami Bank Ltd Head of Investment Md Zahurul Haque signed the agreement on behalf of the respective companies.
DAM President Kazi Rafiqul Alam, First Security Islami Bank Ltd. Managing Director AAM Zakaria, deputy managing directors Abdul Quddus and M Saidul Hasan, DAM Programme Director Shafiqul Islam and Head of Micro-Finance MA Salam as well as other high officials of both the organisations were present.
