DAM moves to promote handicrafts of rural women

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) organised several expositions of handicrafts produced by rural women at the demonstration site of DAM recently.
A total of 58 rural women producers of Satkhira, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Jamalpur, Netrokona, Narshingdi, Gazipur and Dhaka participated in the expositions in phases. The expositions were arranged to encourage and revitalise the producers who were rather discouraged due to lack of marketing facilities of their products.
Products displayed in the expositions were clothes with stitch, knitting, glass-bead and applique works, saree, three-piece, kamiz, scarf, table cloth, bed sheet, cover, wall-mat, cushion cover, bag, panjabi, fatua, naksi kantha, leather products, ladies bag, money bag, photo frame, key-holder ring, coin purse, waist belt, wooden products including various showpieces, pottery, jute bag, mattress, tool, basket made of straw, tray box and various other handicrafts made from wool and wax.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Nogordola Consultant Chandra Shekhor and designers of different fashion houses were present during the exhibitions.
The exhibitions were held with the planning and direction of DAM Deputy Executive Director M Ehsanur Rahman.
To give an idea about quality products catering to the taste of clients, participating producers in the expositions were taken for a visit to showrooms and sales centres of quality product houses including Kumudini, Dreessidel, Aarong, Banglar Mela, Naborupa, Bunon and Nogordola in the city.
