Damp weather delays 5th day\\\'s play in Ctg

Incessant rain is causing delay to resume the first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa on the Day 5 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Saturday. South Africa were 61 for no loss when drizzle and bad light forced the BCB authorities, umpires and officials of the two teams to call off third day’s play on Thursday afternoon before the game concluded on scheduled time. Rain prevented the authorities to resume the play on Friday – the fourth day of the five-day match. South Africa trail Bangladesh by 17 runs after playing 21.1 overs when bad light stopped the play on Thursday, the third day. Openers Stiaan van Zyl and Dean Elgar were batting on scoring 33 and 28 runs respectively on Thursday afternoon. Jubair Hossain 2.1-1-5-0 and Mustafizur Rahman 5-0-21-0 were bowling for Bangladesh.

Weather update (Saturday): On expected lines, it is a damp start to Day-5 as we have got information that it is raining in Chittagong. The players are still in the hotel. On the other hand, umpires might arrive at the ground at around 11.30am to inspect the ground.
For Bangladesh, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Litton Das looked in good touch. It was Simon Harmer, who bowled with flight and guile for the visitors to take three scalps. Today, too, thunderstorms are predicted for the day and even if the weather clears up a bit, the groundsmen will have a task on their hands to get the ground ready for play, report agencies.
