Danish envoy appreciates anti-graft steps

Outgoing Danish Ambassador Einar H Jensen appreciated Tuesday the government steps for curbing corruption and said foreign investment would increase in the country if the anti-graft measures continue, reports BSS.
The envoy made the observation while making a farewell call on Industries Minister Dilip Barua at his ministry.
The Danish ambassador stressed the need for a strong private sector for development specially of infrastructure in Bangladesh that would be beneficial for both local and foreign investors.
Current political situation in Bangladesh, government's role in maintaining democratic trend and bilateral cooperation in industrial sector came up for discussion during the meeting.
The industries minister said one of the goals of the present government is to attain socio-economic development by strengthening the private sector.
The government is playing the role of a facilitator in trade and industries sectors. He sought technical cooperation from Denmark.
