Dark time for Bangladesh cricket

Sunday, 26 January 2014

Cricket lovers of our country are shocked to learn about the bizarre proposal brought by India, Australia and England. If the proposal is passed, Bangladesh will not be able to play Test matches for eight years. During this period Bangladesh will be able to play four-day matches against associate members like Nepal, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. This proposal is totally absurd and it will send Bangladesh cricket to oblivion.
When teams like Bangladesh need to play more international cricket matches to improve, this scheme against it is really unfortunate. Apart from these three countries, India, Australia and England, the rest of the test-playing nations have vehemently protested this proposal.
The position of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is not clear yet but it is apparently afraid of taking a stand against the Indian Cricket Board. Any negative decision of the BCB will bring cricket lovers of our country on the street. If the new proposal is in effect, it will harm the cricket of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe most. Cricket has a huge popularity in Bangladesh and I hope the government of Bangladesh will intervene to uphold the country's interest.
