Darowany Textile Mill reopens

NILPHAMARI, Dec 7: After remaining closed for nearly two years Darowany Textile Mill has been handed over to a private company named Trade Concern for operation on service charge contract system recently.
This is for the third time that service charge contract system to operate the mill has been introduced. In the meantime the mill started partial production. Source said the new management has started recruiting the workers and employees. Before handing over the management all the employees of the mill of BTMC accepted self retirement under the golden handshake system. However the new management failed to go into production because most of the machines have become rusty and are in urgent need or overhauling.
The mill situated in Choraikhola Union Parishad of Nilphamari Sadar upazila was established in 1977 on a huge ground of 108.52 acres of land having with state of the art machinery from Japan. The mill having 25000 spindles started commercial production in 1981 with 1500 workers and employees.
