David Bergman denies contempt charge

Monday, 28 November 2011

The counsel for daily New Age on Sunday claimed that the article, 'Crucial period for International Crimes Tribunal', by its editor (special reports) David Bergman' does not contain any element of contempt of court, rather 'complementary to fair play,' reports UNB. "If you go through part of the impugned analytical article isolatedly it may amount to contempt of court, but if you look through the article as a whole you'll not find any such ingredient," counsel Mustafizur Rahman Khan told the International Crimes Tribunal during the hearing on a contempt of court rule. On October 3, the tribunal issued a suo moto rule upon New Age editor Nurul Kabir, its publisher ASM Shahidullah Khan and writer David Bergman.
