Day-labourer killed in Pabna

A day-labourer was allegedly killed by other labourers over a trifling matter in Deobhog Bazar area of Faridpur upazila of Pabna district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Munnaf Mondol, 48, son of Julmot Mondol, a resident of Deobhog village and the leader of a group of day-labourers. Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Faridpur Police Station said Munnaf had a dispute with other workers over the distribution of payment of a soil cutting work. As a sequel, he locked into an altercation with the workers on Monday morning. At one stage, the workers beat their team leader Munnaf indiscriminately and left him critically injured. He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
