Daylight robbery at Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Sept 28: A group of robbers entered the house of a retired banker at Hatemkhan Sabjipara area of the city in broad daylight and decamped with ornaments and cash.
According to sources, at around 1-00 pm yesterday, three robbers posing as electric line inspectors entered into the room of Abul Kashem, former DGM of Janata Bank. Brandishing sharp weapons, they tied up Saheli Akhter, Assistant Professor of Home Economics College and wife of Abul Kashem, her son Rithi (18). While they were tying Saheli and Rithi, Shafiur Rahman, brother of Abul Kashem entered into the room with his son whereupon the dacoits also tied them along with two other members of the house. Then, they looted taka 10,000 cash, 15 bhori of gold ornaments, five mobile phone sets and some prize bonds from the room and decamped.
The incident has created panic among the residents of the area.
Police and members of RAB have visited the spot. A case has been filed with Boalia Thana but no one has so far been arrested.
