DBBL bags Southern University CSR Award '07

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) has won the Southern University (SU) 1st CSR Award - 2007 for its outstanding performance in discharging corporate social responsibility (CSR) since its inception.
DBBL Managing Director Md Yeasin Ali received the award from National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Badiur Rahman on behalf of the bank at a ceremony, organised at a hotel in Chittagong recently.
In this connection, SU also organised the 'Business and Society Conference 2007' on July 19 to recognise the local companies for their outstanding projects and programmes in CSR. The theme of the conference was 'business with honesty and dignity for the development of the society'.
NBR chairman, in his speech on the occasion, lauded the philanthropic activities of DBBL, and expressed anticipation that other corporate bodies of the country would also come forward with such programmes that would eventually benefit the society at large. Referring to the contribution of DBBL, he urged other corporate bodies to follow its philosophy.
DBBL MD, in his speech said, the bank, over and above its regular financial activities, always reaches to the destitute of the country by carrying out a wide range of community activities like providing education and health facilities, and extending financial assistance to the distressed and calamity-affected people etc.
Among others, SU Vice Chancellor AJM Nuruddin Chowdhury, SU Founder and Business and Society Conference - 2007 Chairman Sarwar Jahan, and DBBF Medical Consultant and Coordinator Mozammel Hossain Khan were also present on the occasion.
