DBBL, Bank Asia ink deals with BB on SME refinance

Two leading private commercial banks recently signed participation deals with Bangladesh Bank (BB) to have refinance facilities under the BB-introduced ADB Credit Fund for SME sector development, said two separate press releases.
Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) Managing Director KS Tabrez, Bank Asia Ltd Managing Director Erfanuddin Ahmed and General Manager of BB SME and Special Programmes Department Sukamal Sinha Choudhury signed the agreements on behalf their respective sides in separate functions at BB head office.
Under the deals, BB will provide refinance against the loans made by the participating banks-- DBBL and Bank Asia Ltd-- to an enterprise (small/medium) meeting some criteria. The amount in individual case in Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas will range from Tk 50,000 to Tk 7.0 million.
BB Executive Director Md Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, DBBL Deputy Managing Director Md Mosaddiqur Rahman, Head of SME Division Mohammad Abu Kausar, Bank Asia Ltd Deputy Managing Director SM Khorshed Alam and Head of SME Division Maruf Mohammad Ahsan, among others, were present on the occasion.
