Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) celebrated its 14th anniversary Thursday with a mission to serve the distressed humanity.
As a part of corporate social responsibility and to stand by the distressed humanity, DBBL arranged a programme in early part of the day to provide financial assistance to 13 selected organisations which were working with disabled and autistic children, providing medicare for the rural poor people and extending educational facilities to the underprivileged students.
DBBL executive committee Chairman Sayem Ahmed handed over the payment orders and commitment letters to the representatives of the respective organisations.
To commemorate the 14 years of operation of the bank, DBBL also arranged a get-together in honour of the customers, patrons, well-wishers and other dignitaries at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city.
On the occasion, State Minister for Science and Information and Communication Technology Yeafesh Osman was present as the chief guest and formally launched 'Nexus Gateway'- the first payment gateway in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Murshid Kuli Khan was present as the special guest.
The chief guest mentioned that the 'Nexus Gateway' would be a milestone in the banking arena and would establish the foundation for Internet and electronic payments for customers and businessmen.
Murshid Kuli Khan mentioned that Bangladesh Bank had allowed e-commerce transactions in local currency in November, 2009 for payment of bills against buying of products in Internet.
Accordingly, DBBL purchased the e-commerce software, installed it, and established the required interfaces with businessmen in Bangladesh in one side and with MasterCard and Visa Card in another side to accept payment to be made by the cards of any bank in the world.
Sayem Ahmed said DBBL is a customer-focused, need-based and technology-driven bank. Its products and services are strongly supported by IT infrastructure and online banking facilities which are upgraded and expanded on a continuous basis.
A large number of guests and dignitaries attended the function.
