DBBL helps HIV-positive patients

DBBL organised a 'Treatment Card' distribution programme among the HIV-positive patients at a city hotel Monday as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Health and Social Welfare Adviser ASM Matiur Rahman was present on the occasion and distributed the treatment cards to 50 HIV/AIDS-positive patients as the chief guest, while DBBL Managing Director Md Yeasin Ali presided over the programme.
Nazrul Islam, head of Virology Department, BSMMU, and Md Shahzahan Biswas, director general (Health Services), Health Directorate, were present as the special guests.
ASM Matiur Rahman, in his speech, lauded the initiatives taken by the bank in serving the distressed humanity and providing financial assistance as part of its CSR.
The health adviser also said HIV/AIDS patients suffer from social deprivation. Therefore, they need not only treatment, but also sympathy, cooperation and mental support from all strata of the society to lead a normal life. He stressed the need for improving the diagnostic system to easily detect virus and for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among the people.
DBBL Deputy Managing Director (Administration) KS Tabrez and Deputy Managing Director (Operations) Ghulam Kabir were also present, among others, on the occasion.
DBBL has been extending medical facilities and other support to 50 HIV-positive people since 2004.
