DBBL stands by acid victims

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) extended its financial assistance to the tune of Tk 10,000 to each of 151 acid victim women through a simple ceremony held at a city hotel recently as a part of its corporate social responsibility.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Salehuddin Ahmed distributed the cheques to the beneficiaries as the chief guest of the ceremony presided over by DBBL Managing Director Md Yeasin Ali. The beneficiaries and their parents, physicians, reputed businessmen, industrialists, representatives of NGOs and journalists attended the function, among others.
Salehuddin Ahmed profusely lauded the munificent programmes of Dutch-Bangla Bank recalling other noteworthy altruistic activities carried out. He anticipated that this noble initiative would bring about a positive change in the lives of the victims if they successfully run the small-scale rural enterprises.
He also lauded the bank's another initiative to provide loans to the disadvantaged women at only five per cent interest. He urged other financial institutions and banks to extend financial support to the disadvantaged groups of the country following the bank. Md Yeasin Ali, referring to the activities carried out by the bank against social menace like dowry, acid violence and environmental degradation the managing director said that DBBL has stepped forward to stand by distressed women by way of extending financial assistance for establishing small scale agro-based rural economic enterprises like setting up poultry farms, livestock rearing, nurseries, cottage industries etc to make them self-reliant.
Yeasin Ali urged acid and dowry victims to carry out their business successfully so that they can avail bank's loan at cheaper cost at 5 per cent interest rate. He also mentioned that the bank would continue this programme for such acid and dowry victims so that they can lead their normal life.
