DBCCI team calls on commerce minister

Newly elected members of the board of directors of Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) called on Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan at his office in the city Monday, said a press release.

Headed by DBCCI President Rakesh Mohan, the meeting was attended, among others, by its Vice-president M Hassan Khaled, Joint Secretary General Sarafat Chowdhury, and directors Mudassir Murtaza Moin, AKM Alamgir, Md Alauddin Khan and Ziaur Rahman.

The delegation apprised the minister of the prospects and problems of the trade development between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.

They laid emphasis on bringing more dynamism in the upcoming national budget 2009-2010, import policy, activities of power and energy sector, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Ministry of Water Resources and Board of Investment for the sake of wooing more foreign investment in Bangladesh.

Expressing dissatisfaction for the low flow of foreign investment, the minister said that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flow must be intensified in order to expedite industrialisation.

He called upon the entrepreneurs to encourage the foreign investors for more investment in the country.

The DBCCI delegation presented some suggestions on the matter related to the problems being faced by the trade and industries for consideration and incorporation in the national budget 2009-2010.
