DBI holds training course opening L/Cs carefully advised

Letters of Credit (L/Cs) is identified as an indispensable document in international business.
Vice President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Md Sirajuddin Malik said this while addressing a training course organised by the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) on 'Proper L/C Procedures for Import and Export Operations' in the city recently, said a press release.
Considering competitiveness in global market, main activities of business houses are purchasing, marketing and knowing domestic and international procedures for export and import, he mentioned.
He stated that even a little carelessness in opening or preparing L/C on the part of a company might to a huge loss in their business.
He cautioned that when we open a L/C every clause in it should be properly checked before import or export. Because missing of a clause can cause such losses that might not be recovered in years.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Vice President of the DCCI MS Shekil Chowdhury urged the participants to disseminate ideas and knowledge they had gained through the training course among their colleagues and management with a view to enhancing skills to sharpen their competitive edge.
He emphasised on the whole process of L/C, as every clause of it was important for business and should be checked before submission. Only then our efforts would be successful.
