DBI holds training on L/C procedures

A training course on 'Proper L/C Procedures of Export and Import Operation' was held on the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) premises in the city recently, said a press statement. M Abu Horaira, Director and former Vice President of DCCI, was present as chief guest at the concluding session of the training course. Mr Horaira laid emphasis on having proper knowledge on L/C to face the challenges of globalization, asserting that L/C is an indispensable document in international business. The DCCI director said a little carelessness in opening or preparing L/C on the part of a company may lead to a huge loss in its business, urging all to check every clause in respect of opening L/C before import or export as missing of a clause can cause such losses which can not be recovered in years. DBI Executive Director Md Hossain Ali said the main objective of DBI is to instill learning culture and encourage global thinking among the participants. Mr Hossain stated that there are 53 shortterm training courses and workshops in DBI training calendar 201011 in addition to certificate and diploma courses on supply chain management. As an affiliated college under the National University, DBI (BBA College) is also offering BBA course from this year. DBI Deputy Secretary (training) Md Sharnsuddin Azad moderated the closing and certificate giving ceremony. At least 35 individuals from prominent business organisations took part in the course.
