DBL Group, one of the largest knitwear groups in the country, hosted a delegation from the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) recently.
The Group, as a signatory to the UNGC, hosted the delegation when the members were in Dhaka to attend the 2014 Asia/Oceania regional meeting and exchange programme, according to a statement.
DBL Group is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact's 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
The objective of the visit by delegation members was to see for themselves the best practices in four areas the knitwear producer has been working and also to promote the overall sustainable development through responsible business practices in Bangladesh.
The field visit also exposed the delegation members to the CSR and sustainability practices at DBL, for which the Group has received several international awards and accolades.
The event was organised in association with the UNGC headquarters in New York, UNGC Bangladesh Network and the CSR Centre, the UNGC Bangladesh Focal Point.
The visiting team comprises 17 members from the UN Global Compact Network of Australia, China, Korea, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives and the headquarters in New York.
