FE Report | Sunday, 4 August 2024

A delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry is scheduled to leave for Vietnam on Sunday on a five-day visit to explore new business opportunities.
DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed will lead the 35-member delegation, which includes exporters, importers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
The delegation aims to explore opportunities for diversified exports, bilateral trade, investment, greater regional connectivity and other economic relationships.
Bangladesh has the potential to be one of the most attractive markets for Vietnamese investors. Bolstering bilateral trade with Vietnam will provide Bangladesh access to new markets, especially with the members of ASEAN, according to DCCI.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh is growing although it is yet to reach its full potential and there are many opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and commerce between the two countries.
In 2022-23, bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Vietnam reached $1.10 billion. Of this total, imports accounted for $1.01 billion, while exports were valued at $96.22 million.
During the visit, the delegation will organise Vietnam-Bangladesh Business Forum followed by B2B matchmaking sessions in Thai Binh Province and Ho Chi Minh City.
They will also visit industrial parks and Ports in Ho Chi Minh City.
