Feroze Ahmed in his speech on the occasion said, the trade deficit between Bangladesh and China stood at about $3.0 billion (300 crore), and Bangladeshi export to China is only $64.0 million (6.4 crore).
In this respect, he underscored the need for establishment of direct road communications between Dhaka and Kunming via Myanmar to bring people of both the nations closer. If the road link is established, it would help increase Bangladeshi export to Kunming, he also said.
Li Jiheng said, greater interaction between Chain and South Asia is imperative for all round progress and development of the vast multitude, living in the region.
Li also said, he would send a team to Dhaka for initiation of talks about the road link between Bangladesh and Kunming via Myanmar.
Highlighting various potential sectors of Bangladesh, DCCI President Hossain Khaled said, China can invest in the sectors like fertiliser, electronics, light engineering, pharmaceuticals, frozen foods, knitwear, ceramics, and jute.
The DCCI president also said that the fair would familiarise Bangladeshi products in China, especially in Kunming, and would help reduce the existing trade deficit between the two countries.
