DCCI holds seminar on South East Asia's economic growth

A seminar organised by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in cooperation with DCCI - SEDF Knowledge Centre and Institute of Training Innovative Management and Technology (INTIMATE) on "Economic Growth and Business Transformation in South East Asia -Bangladesh's Potentials to Match", said a press release.
DCCI President Hossain Khaled presided over the programme while High Commissioner of Malaysia in Bangladesh Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Aziz was the chief guest and Embassy of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Charge d'Affaires Vo Tuan Ngoc was the special guest.
Hossain Khaled explained the relevance of the seminar to present day economic needs in the country. He stated, that Bangladesh could take lessons from countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam which had faced similar conditions like us in the past, but had grown tremendously with growth rate of 8 to 9 per cent per annum.
Partner and CEO of INTIMATE MH Rahman explained the objectives of the INTIMATE that, like the DCCI, wanted to develop the Human Resources of Bangladesh.
In his presentation, Management Consultant from Malaysia Lim Chor Ghee stated Bangladesh like Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam could develop quickly by using its low cost but quality manpower and rich alluvial soil, coal, gas and other natural resources. He cited the example of Air Asia that has grown quickly through effective cost cutting and quality management.
Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Aziz of Malaysia appreciated the economic growth policies of Bangladesh and its effort to seek examples or help from other advanced countries. He stressed that Malaysia had achieved remarkable growth through social and political stability.
Vo Tuan Ngoc said that Vietnam experienced growth because of its success in attracting huge foreign investments as well as social and political stability.
DCCI Senior Vice President M Shahjahan Khan, Vice President Md Alauddin Malik and other directors of DCCI took part in the seminar with other participants.
