DCCI holds workshop on quality management system

A three-day training workshop on 'quality management system (QMS) for SME exports' began Tuesday in the city. The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in cooperation with German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) organised the workshop at the former's auditorium.
GTZ Programme Coordinator Dietrich Stotz and Bureau Veritas (Bangladesh) Private Limited Managing Director Quyyum Khan were present at the inaugural programme of the workshop as the designated discussants.
The objective of the programme is to discuss various issues of QMS and compliance so that market penetration can be easier for the SME exporters.
DCCI President Hossain Khaled, in his speech, defined quality management system as a set of policies, processes and procedures required for planning and execution in their core business area of an organisation.
QMS integrates the various internal processes within the organisation and intends to provide a process approach for project execution. QMS enables the organisations to identify, measure, control and improve the various core business processes that will ultimately lead to improved business performance, he added.
Aiming at achieving the Millanium Development Goals (MDGs) and PRSP, the DCCI president emphasised the need for improving quality management system by organising this kind of workshop.
DCCI Senior Vice President M Shahjahan Khan concluded the inaugural programme.
Some 70 officials from different organisations participated in the workshop.
