DCCI seeks Turkish investment

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has urged the Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in the prospective sectors of Bangladesh including renewable energy, wind energy, infrastructure, tourism and pharmaceuticals. DCCI acting President Nessar Maksud Khan made the request while talking to Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka Huseyin Muftuoglu at the DCCI office Monday, reports UNB. Among others, Secretary General of IZKA Development Agency, Turkey Dr Erguder and Commercial Counsellor of Turkish Embassy in Dhaka Tulay Uyanik were present during the meeting. Welcoming the Turkish envoy at DCCI, the DCCI acting president said the friendly relation between Bangladesh and Turkey can boost trade and investment between the two countries. He stressed removing all sorts of impediments in doing business between the businessmen of both the countries. The DCCI chief said Bangladesh has been consistently maintaining a healthy gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate for the last 4-5 years and urged the Turkish investors to invest in Bangladesh. The Turkish envoy said a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) could be signed between Bangladesh and Turkey. "Turkey enjoys GSP facility in the EU market and Bangladesh can get benefit from Turkey's GSP facility in the EU market by exporting their products to Turkey," he mentioned. He also showed keen interest to work closely with the business community of Bangladesh and said Bangladesh can share the technical know-how of Turkey in the development of textile industries. In reply, the envoy underscored the importance of exchanging business delegations between the two countries.
