DCCI trade fair begins in city

A three-day trade fair organised by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) started in the city Thursday aiming to promote Bangladeshi products and merchandise to local as well as foreign buyers.
The fair is taking place at the Bangladesh-China Conference Centre in the city to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the DCCI.
Commerce adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman inaugurated the exhibition where 40 companies are participating to display their different products.
Country's leading food processing industry Pran-RFL Group, steel manufacturer Anwar Group, Rahimafroz Group, Ispahani Group, bank and financial institutions, garment and home textile manufacturing companies, leather and electrical goods manufacturers are the major participants at the fair.
Hossain Zillur said this fair would promote some new Bangladeshi products to the foreign buyers. It will help boost the country's export earnings in the future days, he added.
A fair organiser said some 500 foreign businessmen, trade experts and government officials from different countries are expected to visit the fair.
"The visitors will be informed about our local products at the exposition. We hope to secure substantial orders from foreign buyers who will come to the exposition," he said, adding, the foreign delegates would be in Bangladesh for participating at the international business conference of DCCI.
The business conference will be inaugurated Friday which will take place at the same venue as the fair.
