DCCI unveils Women Entrepreneurs' Directory

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Saturday unveiled Women Entrepreneurs' Directory 2009 and a research-based book and CD on Kasida.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad unveiled the directory along with the book and the CD at a ceremony at the DCCI Auditorium in the city.
Among others, Anwar Hossain, chairman of Anwar Group of Industries and former lawmaker, Professor Sirajul Islam, chairman of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, Professor Muntasir Mamun of Dhaka University, and lawmakers Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Rawshan Jahan Sathi attended the programme.
The Information Minister said the contribution of women to the national economy cannot be ignored. He said the present government is working hard to involve more women in business by providing credit facilities. Besides, the restoration of the 'Women Development Policy' is under the government's active consideration.
DCCI President Zafar Osman said the Women Entrepreneurs Directory 2009 would help to connect the country's women entrepreneurs, and build a link between the buyers and sellers.
About Kasida, he said the folk songs of old Dhaka occupy a remarkable place in the cultural life of the people. The book and the CD on Kasida will play a vital role in preserving the country's culture.
Anwar Group chairman Anwar Hossain said the DCCI-published informative Women Entrepreneurs Directory 2009 would be helpful for the country's entire business community.
Lawmaker Mostafa Zalal Mohiuddin thanked the DCCI for publishing the book on Kasida and said it will help to keep our culture on the right track.
Dr Muntasir Mamun urged the DCCI to set up an archive at its premises, so that the researchers can work there.
DCCI Senior Vice President MS Shekil Chowdhury and Vice President Md Sirajuddin Malik, and Salahuddin Abdullah, Rafiqul Islam Khan, MA Baten, Md Yead Ali Fakir, Kh Shahidul Islam, Abdul Aziz Sarker, Md Nasiruddin Khan, Md Sirajul Islam, M Shahjahan Khan, Data Magfur and Nasir Hossain were also present on the occasion.
