Deal inked to take courier service to rural people

For taking the courier service facility to the grassroots, an agreement between entrepreneurs of Union Digital Centre and Sundarban Digital Express (SDE), a sister concern of Sundarban Courier Service, was signed in the city Thursday, reports BSS.
With this agreement, the SDE is going to start working to take the courier service facility to the doorsteps of people at the union level.
Access to Information (a2i) programme of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the SDE is planning to take the service to more than 5,000 Union Digital Centres throughout the country which was initially kicked off Thursday at 33 centres.
Officials from both the a2i and the SDE expressed their hope that this initiative will surely be a tremendous fillip for rural entrepreneurs, farmers, and above all, it will play a major role in flourishing the rural economy.
With this agreement, the entrepreneurs of Union Digital Centres can play the role of agents of the courier service, reaping extra cash for themselves.
People's perspective specialist of a2i, Naimuzzaman Mukta, a2i's local development specialist Suparna Roy, junior consultant Jubayer Alam, vice-chairman of Shanto-Mariam Foundation Ahsanul Kabir Dulal, president of Bangladesh Courier Services Association and vice-chairman of Sundarban Courier Service Hafizur Rahman Pulok, managing director of Sundarban Courier Service Sheikh Tanvir Ahmed Roni, and chief executive officer of SDE Abidur Rahman were present on the agreement signing ceremony, among others.
On December 31, 2014, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the SDE, Local Government Division and the a2i to take the courier facility to the doorsteps of rural people.
