CHITTAGONG, Nov 19: A section of vendors at Chittagong Court Building area are allegedly realising two to three times higher price than the prescribed price of non-judicial stamps. They are doing this illegal work capitalising on the inadequate supply of security paper which is hampering the task of preparing deeds. As a result, the government is also being deprived of earning huge amount of revenues, concerned sources said.
Due to the shortage, clients are being victimised to manifold sufferings and hassles in the relevant legal activities including transferring of properties, signing agreements, etc. But the dishonest stamp vendors through building stock of stamps are doing brisk business availing of the situation.
While visiting Chittagong Court Building area Wednesday, only a few vendors were found selling non-judicial stamps. The buyers were seen being forced to procure stamps of Tk 50 denomination even for Tk 200 to 250.
Sufficient supply of non-judicial stamps should be made available immediately for the greater interest of the people.
