Death anniversary of Dr Nawab Ali today

The 31st death anniversary of the renowned physician of the sub-continent Dr. Nawab Ali will be observed today (Sunday) with due solemnity.

Nawab Ali died on August 4, 1977 in Dhaka.

He was professor of Medicine of Lake Medical College, Kolkata, one of the founder principals of Dhaka Medical College and Surgeon General of the then East Pakistan.

He was dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Dhaka University, president of the then Pakistan Medical Association, founder president of erstwhile Chandpur Mohakuma Samity and member of former East Pakistan Legislative Assembly (MPA).

He was the founder of the then SEATO Cholera Hospital (now ICDDR,B) at Matlab in Chandpur district.

Immediate past Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh and member of Truth and Accountability Commission (TAC) Asif Ali is his second son.
