Death anniversary of Shilpacharya today

The 33rd anniversary of death of legendary artist Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin will be observed in the country today (Friday) in a befitting manner, reports BSS.
Various socio-cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
In separate messages on the eve of Shilpacharya's death anniversary, President M Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to the great artist and prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul.
They recalled that the Dhaka Art College was established in 1948 at the initiative of the Shilpacharya.
In his message, Zillur Rahman said the nation would ever remember the contributions of Shilpacharya to the field of art and culture.
Zainul Abedin was a highly acclaimed artist in Bangladesh and his works were widely recognised in the international arena, he said adding lifestyle, sorrows and struggles of the common people were reflected in his works.
Sheikh Hasina said the contributions of Zainul Abedin to reaching the country's own culture to the global stage are undeniable.
"Bangla's nature, lifestyle, prosperity, poverty and desire of Bangalees for independence became lively in his brush and canvas," she said.
