Death at time of Zakat collection

Two old women were stampeded to death when they went to collect Zakat in Manikganj. Reports said there was a huge crowd to collect Zakat. Such unfortunate incidents happen almost every year. The distributors should take precaution to avoid such incidents. Islam has ordered rich people to a pay a portion of their wealth to needy and poor people so that they can change their fate and live a decent life.
Zakat is a unique system to create harmony in society. With proper distribution of Zakat we can get rid of abject poverty form our society. Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. The Muslims should acquire wealth in order to fulfill their own needs and the needs of others. But the way most people pay Zakat is not the proper way as instructed in the religion. Many people buy cheap clothes for Zakat and it is indeed not right. We should give the same quality products that we use for ourselves.
