Sunday, 30 November 2014
A case was filed in connection with the death of renowned journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury in a road accident in the city's Kawran Bazar Saturday night.
Besides, police are now frantically trying to trace the killer bus and its driver.
The victim's son Navid Ahmed Chowdhury filed a case with Kalabagan Police Station, officer-in-charge Iqbal Ahmed told BSS.
Asked about efforts to seize the killer bus, he said, "I personally look after the matter and already held talks with three traffic policemen and two civilians witnessed the tragic road accident to trace out the killer bus."
"But, unfortunately none of them could identify the bus as they only witnessed the journalist to get down," he also said.
"We will talk with other traffic policemen who were on-duty at that time at Kawranbazar," he said, hoping that they will soon locate the bus and its driver.
Former chief editor and managing director of the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) was killed in a road accident around 8 last night when he tried to get off the bus, but the vehicle recklessly pulled away before he could.
He was going to a private TV channel to attend a talk show at Kawran Bazar area.
Zaglul has left behind wife, a son and a daughter. He was last serving as consulting editor of the Financial Express.
He was first taken to Mohona Hospital at Green Road and later shifted to Comfort Nursing Home Private Ltd, where physicians pronounced him dead around 8:30 in the night.
Zaglul's body was taken to the mortuary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
His funeral will be held Monday after his daughter Antara Ahmed Chowdhury returns from the US, family sources said.
Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury will be laid to rest at Azimpur Graveyard Monday.
