Death toll rises to 121, many still missing

CHITTAGONG, June 13 (UNB): At least 11 more bodies were recovered from the mud and the remnants of slums devastated by Monday's landslides in the port city, raising the death toll to 121 till Wednesday afternoon.
The combined team of army, fire brigade and civil administration resumed rescue operations at 9 am Wednesday in the 11 worst-affected points, including Lebu Bagan, Kusumbagh, Kaichchaghona (Kacharighona), Bakolia, Halishahar and Pahartali areas of the city.
Of the nine bodies, five were recovered from Lebu Bagan in Hathazari upazila, one from Kusumbagh Matijharna and three from Sekandarpara areas till 3 pm, police and fire brigade sources said.
Fire brigade sources, quoting local officials, said 15-20 more bodies might still be trapped under the debris in Lebu Bagan area.
