Dec inflation rate drops to 6.11pc

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

The point-to-point inflation rate has inched down in December for the seventh month in a row, reports bdnews24.com.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said on Tuesday the rate was 6.11 per cent in December against 6.21 in the previous month.
The rate was 7.35 percent in June last year, the closing month of the 2013-14 financial year.
After a meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council, the minister told journalists that detailed inflation data would be disclosed at a press conference on Thursday.
The minister had said in the first week of December, while disclosing the November inflation data, that the decline in oil and food prices in the international market had impacted Bangladesh.
"Since many of our food items are import-based, the declining trend of food prices in the international market has an impact on our inflation rate," he said.
Kamal expects the trend will continue in the coming months.
