Deceiving customers with paper bags

Thursday, 20 September 2018

The use of paper bags to carry products is quite popular now. Additionally, this is environment-friendly. Paper packets are also used in kitchen markets and general stores to pack vegetables, fruits and essentials like rice, pulse, and other dry commodities.
Small, medium and large packets are available in the market. Usually, up to 10 kilograms can be carried in the large packets.
But some of these packets themselves weigh around 15 to 100 grams or more. This is done deliberately. While making these packets, extra papers are inserted at the bottom to increase the weight. The sellers in the markets are aware of this. Most likely, they urge the paper packet-makers to give them such packets.
So, if a customer buys 100 grams, he is actually getting 85 grams or less. In this way, some shopkeepers are deceiving unsuspecting customers. I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to this trend. They should take necessary steps against this.
